Google Keywords Tips

Google Keyword Tool is one of the best ways to find inspiration for your marketing plans. Simple enter a keyword or phrase you want and the tool will generate a list of alternatives that are actually based on Google search gets. This article will explain some of my favorite Google search tips with you based on my experience with the tool.

1) Start Small

It's really tempting to begin with the tool with a really long and complex phrase, one which is quite specific. This is all the more common when you already have a promotion in place. For example, if you're promoting 'best dog training books', then perhaps you might start with that phrase. Don't. Strip it down to the basics, which in this case is 'dog training'. This is what you want to initially enter. Don't limit yourself, as the keyword tool will provide you with so much more. You might see a keyword which is not related totally to 'best dog training books', but would still work.

2) Dig further

Included in my list of Google Keywords tips, is number two, dig further. This involves finding a potential keyword, then re-entering that keyword into the search box. Why? This will allow you to see if there are even better, more specific keywords that people are searching for. Remember that the results come straight from what real live people searching for. And most of those real live people you can sell to.

3) Check out the competition

While the keyword tool is pretty good on it's own, you'll want to continue your research in the place people are entering those keywords themselves - Google! Before deciding to add keywords to a campaign, it's a good idea to go over too Google, and enter your keywords into the search box. This should produce some people advertising on those keywords. Pull out a piece of paper and write down those URLs and their position in the rankings. Or use a computer, it doesn't matter. Now, in a couple of weeks time, go and check again. If the advertisers are in much the same position, you can be confident those people are making money. If they're all completely different.. well, you get the idea.

Also, you can use these Google keywords tips if you are a content marketer. Do follow the first two, and do a quoted search for the third one. Enter your keyword or phrase into Google in quotation marks. This will perform a search for exact matches with those listings. Have a look at the competition. Do you think you can beat it? That's up to you, and no amount of Google Keywords tips will help you there.

So, that's my list of Google Keywords tips. I'm sure you've got your own, and regardless of what they are, the Google keywords tool is a fantastic addition to a marketers tool box. Once you can use it effectively, you'll have no problems finding out fantastic keywords and using them to maximum advantage.
